Leaning Tower, Pisa

Probably Italy's most recognizable monument, it's canted 10 degrees from the vertical. That didn't sound like a lot until I saw it firsthand and was shocked by just how precariously balanced it appears. You can tell that the foundation started sinking while it was still under construction -- the upper tiers were made uneven in a futile attempt to straighten it out.
